Kneeboards represent one of the best pieces of equipment to ensure you and your family will have a great time on the water. Thanks to their easy to use design and their ability to fit a wide range of users this is your one stop shop for an awesome day on the lake. The large overall surface area and easy to use Velcro closure system means that one board will work for EVERYONE in the boat!
Modern kneeboards are offered in two basic construction types. These constructions offer different ride characteristics and price points. Choosing the correct type of kneeboard for your family will help ensure that everyone maximizes their fun potential.
The most basic kneeboard construction is called Roto-Molded. Roto-Molded boards are a plastic shell with a thick foam core. Typically Roto-Molded boards are a great option for beginner or recreational riders. The thick foam core works as an excellent shock absorber, keeping new riders on the water longer. The edges of this style of board make surface spins easy and catch free. Because of the overall thickness of this style of board do not expect quick acceleration or extreme edge hold. Roto-Molding makes a very durable and less costly kneeboard, overall you get a lot of bang for your buck!
The other style of knee board construction is called compression molding. Compression molded boards are typically higher performance AND easier to get up on. Because compression molding makes a board that is more neutrally buoyant, kids and lighter weight adults can more easily “sink” the board for easy starts. In addition, compression molding makes a board that is stiffer and has thinner edges. The combination of stiffness and more pronounced edges allow this style of kneeboard to hold an edge with more confidence and provide extra acceleration into the wake. You can expect bigger air, more pop and increased edging power with a compression molded kneeboard. Over the last couple of year’s compression molded boards have gained enormous popularity and have come down in price making them an excellent option for your boating needs.

High performance knee boarders will want to use a no stretch rope similar to high end wakeboard ropes. Beginner and recreational kneeboarders will find that a waterski rope works just fine to get up and running. As with any type of water sport, ALWAYS wear a coast guard approved personal floatation device while knee boarding.
